Ljubljana as the capital of Slovenia

Slovenia as a country is getting popular among young people for hiking in the mountains. It was my first time visiting this country and we only had a time to see the capital - Ljubljana. I must admit that I was nicely suprised also because I didn´t have high expectations (never been on my bucket list very high). I highly recommend you to stop here. It´s a nice town, you can easily walk everywhere, have a good coffee in some cozy cafe, eat traditional meal and breathe the clean air.

Did you know that
... about 300 000 inhabitants
... you can make a day trip from Zagreb (about 2 hours by bus)
... many small cozy cafes
... castle up to the hill
... huge park Tivoli

Gastronomy
Blejska kremna rezina - vanilla pudding, famous wine, sausages, strudel, Pljeskavica (pirohy stuffed with meat), burek etc.  In the Slovenian menu you will find mostly meat dishes. Very special is a meat from bear. I had a chance to try it and it´s delicious.

A few photos
We went to Ljubljana by Flixbus company. Unfortunately on the way back, it was 3 hours delayed.

On of the rare photos with my brother.

If you say Ljubljana I can think of: architecture, parks, markets, dragons and climbing the hill up to the castle. Definitely recommend you for a visit.

Plitvice Lakes National Park as the world's unique of Croatia

My brother always wanted to visit Plitvice. When I asked him if he wants to travel with me to Bosnia, he said ok but under one condition - make a stop in Plitvice Lakes National Park. So we did.

We bought 2 days ticket. The weather is really unpredictable in this area. Many of my friends were unlucky so they had such a bad weather. Our first day it was heavy raining, second day it was sunny. In the area the accommodation is quite expensive. We stayed in a hostel called Plitvice Backpackers which is located about 5 minutes by car from the entrance to the park (the owner picked us up).

There is a quite a horror story related to Plitvice bus station. I decided to write about it in the article "Introduction to Bosnia and Herzegovina" because it´s about how we get from Plitvice in Criatoa to Mostar in Bosnia.

Did you know that
... one of the oldest and the largest national parks in Croatia
... UNESCO
... about 140 km from Zagreb (you can take a bus from there for a day trip)
... every year - about 1 million visitors
... you can buy 1 day or 2 days tickets
... hiking trails, buses, boats
... 16 small lakes of crystal blue-green color
... fasmous movie about Winnetou was filmed here
... open during the whole year

A few photos

Day 1 - raining.

Our accommodation.

Day 2 - the sun is shining.

Plitvice National Park is truly breathtaking. I´m so glad we spent here two days The weather during our second day was exactly like on the picture below. It is really a jewel of Croatia and it should be definitely on your bucket list.
