Vilnius as the capital of Lithuania

First time I started to get interested into Lithuania was in England 7 years go. Can´t bealieve that it has been already 7 years! That´s crazy. Anyway, my housemates came from Lithuania. I think even from Vilnius. And I also had many classmates from Lithuania during my Erasmus in Portugal. So, I knew that one day I will visit Lithuania. And when I travel, I also try to visit the capital, of course. So, here I am.

Did you know that:
... there are more than 500 000 inhabitants
... mostly Lithuanians and then Polish
... historic city centre is part of UNESCO
.. in the past - strong Jewish community, so it was called "Jerusalem of the North"

Quite romantic, isn´t it?

Trakai Island Castle as one of the most important monuments in Lithuania

Trakai Castle is definitely must in Lithuania. In the past it used to be called "city on the water". It is a combination of beautiful nature with historical monument.

Did you know that:
... it was build about year 1400
... surrounded by few lakes
.. located close to Vilnius, about 30 km
... it used to be the seat of Lithuanian rulers
... more than 5 000 inhabitants
... it is a national park

When we were heading to Trakai we got lost a little bit because we . It is so exciting when you get lost somewhere. I love it.

A few photos from Trakai Island Castle.

So, what do you say? Is it already on your bucket list? And by the way, pictures taken before the storms are the best! The storms not so much on the other hand.

...almost all inhabitants are Lithuanias, which is not so typical  (usually also Russians, Polish etc.)
... it is the second biggest city in Lithuania
... there is a castle
