Lago di Como - what to do when it´s raining the whole day

Little town Como is a good starting point for making trips around the lake Como in case you want to explore this area more. It was our idea. After the city Como, the plan was move to Varenna. Unfortunately it was really heavy raining. So, we had to change our plans and went to shops, restaurant, cafe, cinema and bar instead. Of course, we also explored the city and we ended up quite wet.

A funny story
I don´t understand their public transportation. They have so many different bus tickets and even in the place where they sell it, local staff can´t help you with that. So, we bought wrong tickets, we gave it back and just smiled to the bus driver who took us for free. Twice (on the way to the cinema and back to the city centre after). We watched a movie Uno di famiglia - about Italian family and mafia.

Did you know that
... you can easily make a one day trip to Como from Milan
... less than 1 hour by train
... the most popular lake in Italy
... surrounded by mountains and hills
... 197 metres above the sea level
... the lenght of coast is 170 km
... popular during the summer as well as in winter.

Purple is my favourite colour.

A bit from gastronomy

Spaghetti alla vongole is my favourite. I order it every time I´m in Italy.

When it´s heavy raining outside - tea is your best friend.

Some education.

The bar at the end of raining day.

You can´t plan everything and the weather is quite unpredictable. Even though it was raining basically the whole day, I was still happy. Why? Because I´m in Italy.

Monza as a place with famous Autodrome

My dear friends,
if you know me well, than you know that I love Italy. It is truly the country of my heart. Also, it was my first experience with traveling alone and living abroad. All this happened 8 years ago. I totally fall in love with this beautiful country and I come there every year ever since. For the last 4 years I travel to Italy with my friend Petra who I have met during my Erasmus intership in Barcelona. And guess what? I found out that she is in love with Italy as much as I am. Maybe more. This year she went there 7 times.

We have bought pretty cheap air tickets with low cost company Ryanair. The price was around 1 100 CZK for a return ticket to Bergamo which is located in the North of Italy. Petra wanted to spend few hours in Milan and then we moved to Monza which is really close.

Did you know that
... few minutes by train from Milan
... the city became famous for the Race Formula One
... famous autodrome -Autodromo Nazionale di Monza
... nice and little city centre, streets
... Duomo di Monza is currently is being reconstructed (so, you can´t see much of it)

Few photos from Milan
It was my fifth time in Milan and it still has so much to offer.

Milano is the city of fashion.

Panini Durini is must.

Bergamo - International airport, La Citta Alta, Casoncelli

I spend a long weekend in Italy at the end of October. The weather was pretty bad. The funny thing is that my mum traveled to Bergamo one week before me and she had a perfect weather. During my stay, it was raining every day.  Unfortunately now the situation is really bad for instance in Venice or Sicily.

It was actually my second time in Bergamo. First time I went there 8 years ago when I traveled quite a lot in Italy after I finished my job as a babysitter. Bergamo was one my lasts stop during 1 month of traveling.

Funny story
At the airport I´ve met my exboyfriend Matus. I totally didn´t see him when he suprised me and gave me a hug. I had no idea that he is going to be there. So I almost had a infarct. No, I´m kidding. But I was a bit shocked and screamed across the whole airport.

Did you know that
... the historical part is called La Città Alta, which is the part on the hill
... you can get there by cable car
... the new part of the city called La Città Bassa - below the La Città Alta
... there is the airport with low cost companies, mainly Ryanair
... huge shopping centre practically in the airport area
... traditional meal - casoncelli (pasta filled with meat, cheese and herbs.)
...  university town

Shopping at the end - TOSCA BLU.

Casoncelli

I can´t leave Italy without proper gelato.

Sicilian Cannoli.

I definitely recommend you to make a quick stop here. Bergamo - La Città Alta is worth it. Also, most of people skip it so it is not that tourist.

All you need is a good friend.
