Ventspils as a place full of colorful cows and beautiful beaches

Ventspils is perfect for all the sports such as: cycling, swimming, walking etc. There are also beautiful beaches. Most of the people would probably jump into the sea. I don´t need that and also it is usually very cold for me. Due to my problem with kidney, I shouldn´t swim in the water under 25 degrees.

Did you know that:
.... about 45 000 inhabitants
... The profits from port services have made Ventspils one of the richest city in the country
... there is an airport
... famous football club
... long beautiful beaches
... the name of the city comes from the name of the river Venta
... The Latvian name of the city  translated into Vent's Castle) - is derived from the this local castle

A few photos:

You can feel around that Ventspils is really rich city. And my favourite place? This one on the picture below.

Latvia and their kind people - visiting some local house

This article will be really short. It is about getting kind of lost and finding a place where to park. If you travel by motorhome it has few advantages. For instance, you have a place to sleep. You only need to find a sport where to park it. Accidentally we drove our cars to someone´s house. And what happened? The locals were so nice they let us park the car on their garden. What did I like the most? Their small pier and looking at the nature around. And more thing - you will find out at the end of this article.

A few photos:

This was definitely one of my best experience in Latvia. Visiting some locals and their hospitality. I even made a new friend (on the photo above).

Liepaja as a place where the wind was born

We made really quick stop in Liepaja. So, for instance we didn´t have time to visit their long sandy beaches. But we managed to visit a huge local market, see few churches and unexpected shopping. What did I buy you will find out at the end of this article.

Did you know that:
.... Latvians says that Liepaja is a city where the wind was born because  the wind blows from the sea. That´s why they built number of wind power plants.
... is the third biggest city in Latvia, about 70 000 inhabitants
... famous port which is never frozen
... huge market
... long sandy beaches

A few photos:

The time here was really limited but I found by accident kind of second hand shop/vintage and bought there some pretty cool stuff for instance dress by my Burberry. I never believed that one day I could own one :-)

Introduction to Latvia - beach, Riga, museum, castle

Latvia has not been on my bucket list very high although I met some Latvians in Sicily during Erasmus project and they became very good friends of our Czech group. We managed to visit Latvia as well as Lithuania during one week and it was lovely holiday.

Did you know that:
... people very often make mistakes in terms of Latvia and Lithuania - for instance during football but also some important official events
... about 2 milions inhabitants, the size more or less like Czech Republic
... located on the east coast of the Baltic Sea
... Latvians eat meat a lot
... Apart from Latvians, there are also Russians, Belorus and the Ukrainians
... lots of peole know Russian
... the highest Mountain - Gaizinkalns has 312 metres above sea level
