Riga as the capital of Latvia

I have heard so much about Riga. Many of my friends spent their Erasmus program there during University studies. So, I have to admit it has been on my bucket list quite high. I have been there during the summer, can´t imagine it during the winter. I am cold all the time although I come from the mountains. So, I admire beautiful photos from my friend in - 20 but I rather preferer + 20. As you know, for my Erasmus I chose Lisbon and Barcelona :-)

Did you know that:
... there are about 700 000 inhabitants
... 1/3 of populations lives in the capital
... the historical part of the city - UNESCO
... there is a big and important port as well as the ariport
... Rigas Melnais balsams - traditional alcohol (45% strong)
... sightseeing: Rigas Doms, Rigas Pils, Melngalvju nams

A few photos:

The view from our camp.

Totally empty streets.

We have met someone famous. There were many bodyguards.

Beautiful square.

Traditional alcohol in the oldest bar in Riga.

A little bit of shopping.

Boat trip.

Riga is truly beautiful and I think you should definitely visit this place. It is not so crowded although it´s the capital. If you say Riga I can think of beautiful houses on the main square, delicious food, parks and much more is waiting for you there.

Two more messages at the end:

1. Tomorrow I am going on holiday. For the first time in my life I am staying in the Czech Republic. You know that I always travel abroad. But this year I decided to get to know better my coutry. Also, it is going to be my first time in Sumava National Park. I know, shame on me.

2. My brother moved to Alaska for the summer to work. I am so proud of him. I know what do you wanna ask. Unfortunately I can´t make it to visit him there. Also, close friend of mine got married in the US so next time I will go there, I would like to make these 2 visits.

And that´s really all for today.

Regards
Miska
