Why Stockholm? Our common Erasmus friend Martin was studying there at university for one semester. I don´t know if you know, but Martin actually put me and Matus together. We organized a canoeing trip last summer in the Czech Republic.
A few facts:
- more than 80 museums in the city
- some of them are located in the island Djurgården which is called the Island of museums
- go by boat between the islands
- amusement park Tivoli
The beginning of the island of Museums. I don´t visit museums very often, but even I chose one here, in Stockholm. Which was it?
Vasa Museum. If you ever come to Stockholm, this is what you MUST SEE. There is a story. Vasa Museum tells the history of the Swedish royal warship which in 1628 sank. They were only able to make 1,500 meters after their departure. The boat was lifted from the bottom of the sea after 333 years.
When you go outside of Vasa museum.
The amusement park Tivoli. We visited the House of Horror (they got me already at the entrance) and also few rides. Prepare for long queues and expensive tickets.
Our transportation between the islands.
Moderna Museet in Stockholm. It´s for free. I went to Stockholm in August. Believe me or not but you could watch there 3 documentary movies. 2 of them came from the Czech Republic and showed you demonstation against gypsies. Another one was about gay. And the last one was from East of Slovakia and showed a poverty.
If the weather was better, we would definitely canoeing.
A funny story: I was searching on the internet something like the best beach in Stockholm. We just met this dog and his Asian owner. The guys were a little bit angry with me because I brought them in the middle of nowhere and I convinced them it´s the best beach around.
But I got this amazing view. So, it wasn´t all for nothing, was it? And I think no tourist has ever came here so :-)
Regards
Michalka
